Working with Target DB

The user also must select Rangecam MS Access DB where to import data. ETL can populate both version 12 and vesion 14. The application automatically recognizes version. It works similar with both versions, but provides slightly different functionality. To select target db user has to click menu item Target Database

Standard folder selection dialog allows to select the folder where DB is located. DB folder appears in the application Title

Select Subdivision

As soon as the application connected to Rangecam DB, the Territory Select Control will be loaded.

User must expand territory tree and explicitly select subdivision with which imported run(s) will be associated in Rangecam DB. Track code system will automatically transfer from ARIES DB.

In case of Rangecam DB version 14, the application allow to select not only subdivision but track as well.

Track Matching

Track matching is the process of associating the track codes in the source database with the track codes in the target database. The application will automatically match the track codes if they are identical. In column RC Track Code the user can select a track that would be associated with given run.

Sometime a new track has to be created in database that was never used before and it is not in the list of known tracks.

In Rangecam DB version 12 the user simply can type new track code in the field RC Track Code.

In Rangecam DB version 14 the user has to create new track before it appears in the list. Main menu has a button Add Track that activates new window to create a track. This tool create new instance of track in DB with unique ID. It validate integrity of DB.

Select Rail Types

The application also loads the list of rail types available in Rangecam DB. The user must check those types that will be used to model rail.

Only Rail Types RE115 and RE136 are used by Rangecam Rail Recognition

To select Modelling options used by Rangecam Rail Recognition please use the button Browse. File with modelling options should have extension *.mdl and should be generated for Rangecam version 12.

If user want to visualize the whole path to the modelling file it is enough to hover mouse over the file name and the full path will display in the tip as shown above.

Import

When everything is ready the user can cross fingers, and click button Import. If something is missed the message pops up informing user what selection missed. If everything is OK, the import process starts and progress is showing in a new progress window. This window also has the button Cancel that stops import.
