Importing Rail Vision Tie Data

Rail Vision, "machine vision" tie condition data can also be imported into Rangecam. The Rail Vision import has one file: RVTieImport.exe. No special procedures are required to install it. Data should be delivered in a package of two files: datamanifest.xml and tie.csv. Before starting to import the data, the user must have permission to write a file in the folder that contains data, because the program will generate an auxiliary file schema.ini.

Usage

To start the program, click the .CSV button that appears in the window. Select the folder where the tie data is to be placed and select the tie.csv file. After the data is imported and the .CSV file is opened, a table appears inside the window. Now, the user can view and edit the data.

Scale Location. Select the "Scale Location" button to convert the data to a Rangecam format. Note: Tie import must be done after the geometry import. The geometry import will populate the location table, which is necessary to convert the scaled location to mile+offset and vice versa. Location should be scaled only one time, which is why the button is disabled when the operation is completed. Once this is done, the next button is enabled.

To open a Tie database, select the Rangecam database into which the tie data was imported. The program will validate it if a Sbdv with the same name exist in the database. If not, the user will be prompted to create this subdivision (this can be done in Rangecam) or to open another database in which the subdivision exists. When the operation succeeds, the last button is enabled. Click the last button to import the data into the existing database. A progress bar located in the bottom status panel indicates the progress of the import. Do not interrupt the process during this operation. When finished, a message box informs the user of the results.

Perform the next import or close the window by hitting red cross-button in the right top corner of the window.
