This topic applies only to MS Access databases.
Microsoft Access databases have a size limit of 2 GB (Access 97 is limited to 1 GB). You may encounter this limit when importing large quantities of data collected in the field. MS Access databases grow faster than you may expect when data is added.
The file most likely to be a problem is measrail.mdb. Its size should be checked after any bulk data import. If it is more than about 1.0 GB, or is larger than desired for archiving purposes, you should run the MS Access database compaction utility. This is usually called Compact and Repair Database on the Access menu. It will shrink the file without losing information.
