Subdivision is part of any track location, and is referenced throughout the database. Rangecam provides a default subdivision number, but it may be replaced by the user. The number is used as a primary key, and may not be changed after the record has been added. Subdivision numbers are required to be unique in the database.

Each subdivision must be associated with a division, which is selected from a drop-down list. Direction is the direction of increasing mileage for the subdivision.
Similarly, underbalance and curve factor values used in calculating VMax are stored in the subdivision database table. If values other than the FRA-standard defaults are desired, they must be entered using Rangecam Office before databases are distributed to end-users. See Calculating VMax (Averaged) for more detail.
