Track Location

The Track Location table records distances between mileposts, or any other track location reference markers. The table is used to report profile location as reference-plus-distance, and also to calculate rail inventory.

Each record contains a subdivision, a track, a nominal start location, a nominal end location, and the actual distance between the nominal locations.

In this example, the nominal reference locations are mileposts. The actual distance between mileposts 338 and 339 is 1.10777 miles.

Rangecam does not allow overlapping track location records to be entered using this dialog. If the From or To fields are updated so as to extend the mileage range, adjoining records may be shortened or even deleted! The software will warn you before this occurs. If your update shortens the mileage range, a new location record will be inserted to cover the excluded territory. If a location record is simply deleted, that has no effect on other location records.
