The Rail Wear Trend Chart shows wear trends visually for a single curve or tangent section. Select Reports/Rail Trend Chart... from the Profile View menu to open the Rail Wear Trend Chart Setup dialog. The rail wear trend chart incorporates a "project-to" condition, which indicates when a specified percentage of each track segment (curve or tangent section) will be worn to a specified classification limit. The rail trend chart makes the rail replacement calculation visible for a given curve or tangent segment.
When used with the Visual Rail Replacement Plan, the rail wear trend chart includes a line parallel to the average wear trend line that represents the specified replacement condition, such as "project to 10% condemned," in the rail replacement forecast. This enhanced chart is accessible through a button on the visual rail replacement chart. To activate the button, place the cursor over the date of the segment scheduled for replacement to highlight it. When the date is highlighted, click on the chart button. The rail trend chart with the scheduled replacement date will appear.
